Christmas Acres December 9, 2020 By Joseph L. Murphy, Iowa Soybean Association Caring can take many forms. For Rob Scheitler, 24 years and 200,000 lights have translated into more than $30,000 in donations to charity. What started as a fascination with luminaries when he was 10 years old, has led Scheitler down a path to create Christmas Acres – the most extensive lighting event in the tri-state area. Starting the weekend before Thanksgiving and extending until December 31, visitors can drive or walk through Christmas Acres while enjoying holiday cheer. The display is west of Le Mars at 18481 Impala Avenue. The Scheitler family staffs the display and all donations go to the Christian Needs Center in Le Mars.
