Iowans Helping Iowans March 29, 2019 By Joseph L. Murphy, Iowa Soybean Association Our "Pictures of the Week" take us to Baxter and Malvern where farmers spent the week collecting and loading hay to be distributed to farmers in flood-stricken areas of Iowa and Nebraska. On Wednesday, Brock Hansen, Trent Clapper, Jordan Vansice, Doug Vansice and others loaded 14 bales of hay on a semi after seeing social media posts by Shelli Eatwell requesting aid for livestock farmers in Nebraska. On Thursday, 30 round bales of hay and 72 square bales of cornstalks arrived at Bob Blum's farm near Malvern to be staged for delivery in southwest Iowa. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig was on a tour of the area and said these donations are an example of "Iowans helping Iowans."
